How Jay-Z FORCED His Way Onto Juvenile's 'Ha' Remix | The Power Move To Enter The Southern Market

Juvenile and Mannie Fresh recently reflected on the wild story behind the "Ha" remix featuring Jay-Z — and how it all came together without anyone on Cash Money even asking.

In New York, “Ha” was already heating up the streets. Then out of nowhere, Jay-Z jumped on the track, recording his own verse and sending it straight to Universal. Mannie Fresh and Juvenile didn’t even know it happened until Universal sent it back to them. “We was just like, wait — Jay-Z jumped on this?” they remembered.

At that point, Juvenile, a true hip-hop head, was already a big Jay fan and knew his legacy. But for Birdman and most of Cash Money, it was a different story — their philosophy was strictly Cash Money only. Features from outside artists were basically unheard of. Mannie Fresh said it clearly: “The rules at Cash Money were Cash Money.”

Even though it wasn’t part of the original plan, Jay-Z’s move ended up being a major co-sign.
