"The style of this video was largely inspired by school children's climate change dioramas and models - the sort of thing that would be set as a homework project. I wanted to capture the imminent threat of climate change simplified down through a childish medium to emphasise the damage done. Conceptually, the video follows a family of rubbish as they are emptied from one bin into the next, each bin growing in size. In the bigger bin we see the family driving through an ever worsening environment as it is worn down by different examples of climate change. The bin being emptied at the end hints at the ongoing problem of climate change and how if we don’t change then it's just going to continue getting worse and worse.
No new cardboard was bought for this video! All of the materials are recycled and all the effects are done in camera (with a lot of hands and magnets involved). Hopefully through this simplistic approach the ominous effects of climate change can be clearly seen and felt by audiences. There HAS to be a change coming!" - Beattie Hartley
