When I was mastering a Christmas Compilation for Starbucks (one of 187 that I did), the Nora Jones version of this was the first song. I knew of Horace Silver’s instrumental version and had played it many times. I had no idea that Horace had also written lyrics and was I pleasantly surprised. According to Mr. Silver, "I was doodlin' around on the piano and it just came to me, but I also had the impression that there was an angel standing over me, impressing my mind with this beautiful melody and harmony." I hope that the angel standing over him reaches you too, as you listen to my rendition. I am honored to have Marcelo Berestovoy on Guitar and Dave Iwataki on Keyboards.
