Roy Orbison: The Original Sound

Did you know this fact about Roy Orbison?

"Ooby Dooby" was Roy Orbison's breakthrough hit—but he actually wasn't the first to record it!

The song, which ended up peaking at #59 on the Billboard Hot 100, was written by two of Roy's college friends at North Texas State, Wade Moore and Dick Penner.

After hearing it, Roy recorded it himself with his band, The Teen Kings. But before his version was released, a group called the Wink Westerners (also involving Orbison) had already performed it locally, and another group cut it first.
